The National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) was established by the government of the Republic of Liberia in the 1970s as a National Food Assistance Unit following an Executive Order number 1. Then came Executive Order number 4 of 1977 which further ensured the restructuring of the NFAA, thereby placing its functions under the General Services Agency (GSA). But the agency, in the same year, took on the name National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) with its statutory mandate to serve as a coordinating unit between the government of Liberia and partners on food assistance from foreign donor sources; to assist the various agencies of government in the development of proposals for submission to donors for food assistance; and to coordinate the activities of other National and International Non-governmental Organizations providing food assistances in Liberia.
To lead and coordinate efforts to eradicate hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity through the efficient and equitable distribution of food assistance, innovative and sustainable interventions, empowering communities, implementation of sustainable strategies to promote self-sufficiency and resilience among vulnerable populations, promoting sustainable agriculture and nutrition education, and nurturing partnerships for positive impact

A Liberia where every citizen including vulnerable groups has access to sufficient and nutritious food, ensuring food security and promoting well-being for all.
At the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA), our mission is simple yet vital: to combat hunger, enhance food security, and provide critical support to the most vulnerable communities across our nation. We are dedicated to ensuring that no one goes hungry by working closely with government entities, international partners, and local stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions to food insecurity.
