Monrovia, 8 October 2024) The Senior Management Team (SMT) of the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) has initiated plans to team up with the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) in the bid to collaborate efforts aimed at addressing the plights of disaster victims across the country.
The two institutions whose statutory mandates virtually complement each other have deemed coordination of their separate activities, cardinal in catering for victims of disaster, particularly flood which occurs every rainy season with catastrophic impact on impoverished homes.
Receiving the management team of NFAA in his office, the Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) Hon. Ansu Dulleh termed the initiative to collaborate between the two institutions as timely. He said public institutions clothed with statutory mandates to perform specific tasks should be given the space to operate. “Since taking over this agency, I have realized that most of what we should do by law are being done by other institutions that have no business doing those things,” DG Dulleh pointed. He noted that with robust engagements with the media, the narratives seem to have shifted a bit, charging senior management of NFAA to also take cue.
In response, the Director-General of the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA), Hon. Borkai A.M. Sirleaf, stressed the need to identify institutions of government with complementary roles and carve out plans to coordinate for concerted efforts in serving the Liberian people.
The brief meeting in DG Dulleh’s office brought together the Deputy Director General for Admininstration, Hon. Bob Yeenuah Kartoe, Human Resources Director Ms. Christiana A. Kayakpah and Acting Public Relations & Communications Director, Mr. R. Webster Nyian of the National Food Assistance Agency on the one hand, and the Communications Director Mr. Archievego M. Doe, Comptroller Mr. Elvis Frank and other staff of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA,) on the other hand.
